"The epidemiological situation does not allow the start of winter tourism".

This was confirmed by the president of the Province of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher, speaking of the reopening of the ski lifts.

"I don't want to talk about dates, there will be no winter tourism in the coming weeks," Kompatscher said.

"We know that thousands of people work in the tourism sector and therefore thousands of families are affected but there are no conditions for the resumption of winter tourism which will in any case also be a choice at national and European level".

This was reiterated by the governor of South Tyrol, Arno Kompatscher regarding the now certain not opening of the winter season before Christmas.

"On Monday the training of the athletes who will participate in the international FIS and junior competitions at national level will resume - Kompatscher specified -. Competitions at local and associative level remain prohibited".

South Tyrol plays in advance: shops and bars reopen from Monday

South Tyrol plays in advance for the second 'phase 2' with a package of reopening already between Monday 30 and Friday 4 December.

The great dream among the South Tyrolean valleys where there is still no natural snow, if not to spray the high peaks like the 'pandori', is that of an opening - all to be studied also from an economic point of view - winter season 'vor Weihnachten', or 'before Christmas'.

The pressure on Rome, starting from the politics in turn moved by a series of sector associations, has been very strong for days.

Kompatscher has announced the agenda of the expected reopening in a land that is anything but spared by the second wave of Covid-19.

Indeed, Alto Adige a few days before the government's decision had declared itself a 'red zone' following the high contagion.

Until Sunday 29 there will be lockdowns, from Monday there will be some openings that will not be "all free" as, as Kompatscher explained, "it will be a very slow recovery because the epidemic has not passed".

Debate far from simple even in the provincial council.

This morning, after a night with opposing visions within the same Suedtiroler Volkspartei (holds the majority in the council), the councilor for trade and education in German, Philipp Achammer announced on social media the opening of "tutti the shops "and that middle schools (second and third class)" will return in attendance ".

From Monday 30th hairdressers and barbers will reopen.

The northernmost province of Italy, faithful cradle of German-speaking Christmas traditions south of the Brenner Pass, will be the 'red zone' until Friday 3 December.

From Friday 4th, barring last minute changes, bars and restaurants will reopen until 6 pm, as well as beauticians and beauty salons.

For high schools, the topic is on the table and we think, but nothing is confirmed, about a resumption of lessons in presence at 50% from Wednesday 9.
