13 August 2020 The president of the Calabria Region, Jole Santelli, has signed an ordinance with which he orders the closure of all activities related to dancing, therefore ballrooms, discos and similar clubs such as bathing beaches, outdoors or indoors.

The decision was made in order to contain the spread of the Covid 19 virus, reports a statement, "in agreement with the national government and after having talked with the ministers of health and regional affairs, Francesco Boccia and Roberto Speranza".

The ban takes effect from the date of publication of this Ordinance and until the end of September 7, 2020, or earlier if the contagion curve returns to a level compatible with a low risk of transmissibility of the infection ". 

The hypothesis of an order for the closure of discos was already read between the lines of the post on Facebook by the councilor for tourism of the Calabria Region, Fausto Orsomarso. 

"The recommendations to young people were not enough not to let their guard down" writes the commissioner on his Facebook page, recalling the risks of contagion in crowded places. And so here is the regional ordinance that closes the discos. A provision signed by the president of the Region Jole Santelli.

A provision already adopted by the mayor of Catanzaro, Sergio Abramo, who has already closed all the activities of musical entertainment, dancing and shows, discos, concerts and live theater. The new cases of Covid-19 registered in the provincial territory led the mayor to prepare, as a precaution, an ordinance that also involves the closure of all the play areas in the city and suspends the pedestrian area of ​​Via Nicea, in the Lido district. .

"There is no reason to be alarmed - said the mayor - the ordinance is a necessary act to reduce the opportunities for gatherings and consequently decrease the chances of contagion".
