Düsseldorf (dpa) - The electronics retailer Ceconomy has struck gold in the search for a CEO: Eon manager Karsten Wildberger will take over the helm at the mother of the chains Mediamarkt and Saturn from August 1, as Ceconomy announced on Monday in Düsseldorf.

At the same time, the management structure of Ceconomy and the subsidiary Media-Saturn will be standardized: Wildberger will also take over management of Media-Saturn-Holding, replacing long-time boss Ferran Reverter, who is moving to the FC Barcelona football club.

This brings an end to the long search for a CEO for Ceconomy.

The previous interim boss, Bernhard Düttmann, initially came for a year in October 2019.

In September last year, the Supervisory Board extended its contract by another twelve months in order to gain more time in the search for a successor.

Düttmann will be available to Wildberger until his contract expires on October 16, 2021 "in an advisory and supportive manner," said Ceconomy.
