Dayot Upamecano scored his first goal for two years this weekend with Bundesliga leader Leipzig, while Barcelona's Clement Lenglet suffered in the clasico lost to Real Madrid.

Substitute, Mbappé still scored twice with Paris.

- Upamecano scorer -

The Leipzig center-back, who turns 22 on Tuesday, is taking on a new dimension.

After a successful Champions League "Final 8" in August and his first selections for the French team in September, Dayot Upamecano scored his first goal with his club on Saturday since May 2018.

While Hertha Berlin had opened the scoring in the 8th minute, he equalized three minutes later in his very particular style: a first strike in the countered area then a kidney blow more angry than technical to scatter three defenders, and a missile under the bar (final score 2-1 for Leipzig).

His performances were noticed to the point that his name was quoted in the press to eventually replace Virgil van Dijk, the currently injured Liverpool star center-back.

"Everyone already knows that he is an extraordinary defender and one of the very best in Europe at his post," his coach Julian Nagelsmann said on Saturday.

"What still differentiates him from a Virgil van Dijk is that van Dijk scores five or six goals per season and is very dangerous in front of goal (...). If + Upa + scores five or six goals per season, it will become even more valuable than it already is, ”Nagelsmann added.

Leipzig alone lead the Bundesliga with a point ahead of Bayern and Dortmund.

Upamecano and his teammates play Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday following their 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir last week.

- Trapped Lenglet -

In Spain, the clasico lost 3-1 by FC Barcelona against Real Madrid turned into a nightmare for Clément Lenglet, the only French holder on the Catalan side while Antoine Griezmann was once again a substitute.

The central defender of Barça (25 years old, 10 caps) despite himself favored the Madrid victory by conceding a penalty for a jersey draw on Madrid captain Sergio Ramos (63rd), while the two teams neutralized each other until then.

Lenglet "was playing a very serious game, but he fell into Sergio Ramos' trap," Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo summed up on Sunday, even though the entire Catalan press accused the referee on this contentious whistle, validated with the help of video arbitration (VAR).

- Worthy disillusion -

Bad weekend for Lucas Digne and Everton: Premier League leaders suffered their first defeat of the season at Southampton (2-0) and Digne was sent off in the 72nd minute for stepping on an opponent's heel in full race.

The referee of the match sent a direct red to the French side who will earn him three suspensions matches, even if his club will appeal.

"The red card was a joke, it was not intentional, and certainly not violent", railed after the match the coach Carlo Ancelotti, estimating that Digne had perhaps paid for the violent gesture of the goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who has seriously injured Virgil van Dijk during the derby the previous week, without being penalized.

- Mbappé at a slow trot -

Although a substitute at kickoff, Kylian Mbappé was able to take advantage of his entry in the 73rd minute against Dijon on Saturday to score a double with PSG and heal his statistics.

Launched by Neymar for a strike between the legs of goalkeeper Saturnin Allagbé, then on an offering from Pablo Sarabia, the young international (21 years old, 38 caps, 16 goals) did not need to force his talent, like Paris SG who won 4-0 and took the lead in the championship without giving the impression of giving their all.

Mbappé takes the lead in the Ligue 1 scorers' standings with six goals alongside Messin Ibrahima Niane and Rémois Boulaye Dia.

He must help PSG to catch up in the Champions League Wednesday in Istanbul against Basaksehir, after the inaugural defeat suffered last Tuesday against Manchester United (2-1).
