The epidemic is gaining ground.

This Tuesday evening, the prefect of the North announced a new tightening of measures to try to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the department, already considered as an “active traffic zone”.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, had classified the North in a "red zone", the incidence rate of the coronavirus having reached the bar of 50 confirmed cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven rolling days.

In the wake, on Sunday, the prefect of the North had taken new measures, in particular at the level of the European metropolis of Lille, sector in which the presence of the virus was even more marked.

In particular, he had imposed the closure from 12:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. in bars, restaurants and general food stores.

But since this Tuesday evening, no need to run outside the territory of the MEL to try to find bistros open after 12:30 am.

The prefect has in fact extended to the entire Nord department the obligation to close between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.

"In recent days, in the Nord department, the incidence rate has increased considerably, from 64.3 to 89.5," said the prefecture in a press release.

This measure is taken for a period of 15 days from this Tuesday, renewable if necessary.

As he did for the MEL, the prefect insisted on increasing the number of checks in the establishments concerned.

In Lille, a bar has already been hit with an administrative closure measure.

The mayor of Lille, Martine Aubry, hinted on Monday that other sanctions of this type should fall in the coming days for establishments in the rue Massena district.
