The Algerian opponent and human rights activist Karim Tabbou was released on Saturday afternoon from the Châteauneuf police station in Algiers, where he had been taken last night by the police without any explanation being provided.

recently spoke on Facebook about the death in prison of another rights activist. man, Hakim Debazzi. 

A file that embarrasses the authorities, according to the vice-president of the Algerian League for Human Rights Saïd Salhi, who also reacted to his release.

It is a relief, after 24 hours of police custody that we did not understand [...] The case is not closed.

Saïd Salhi: “It is clear that the authorities want to add a turn of the screw to freedoms”

Saïd Salhi calls on the authorities to stop the harassment. 

The Algerian people are fed up with this steamroller which is attacking fundamental freedoms, even the gains that we have been wresting for years now.
