A 36-year-old merchant from Chonas-l'Amballan (Isère) chased an individual from Friday to Saturday, whom he mistook for the burglar in his store.

The man was in fact a policeman who was driving in an unmarked car, says France Bleu Isère.

Having seen the manager of the shop firing shots at other businesses, the official drove his car past and past him.

Exchange of gunfire

The man who had just been robbed mistook the driver for the theft, got into his vehicle and pursued the police officer.

He did not hesitate to fire again at the car of the man he thought was a thief and ended up blocking it.

The police officer also fired.

The shopkeeper's door was hit.

The thirty-something then fled.

He was finally arrested after being chased by police and gendarmes warned of the current situation.

An investigation was launched.

The store manager was taken into custody.

He was to be the subject of an immediate court appearance on Monday.
