The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m., on the Nantes-Paris TGV line, when the train was near Angers.

This Thursday afternoon, a person was fatally struck, near the town of La Possonnière, reports the SNCF.

The police and emergency services are still on the scene, in order to carry out the necessary investigations.

The TGV, in which there are around 350 passengers, is still immobilized.

The driver, in shock, will be replaced to get the train back on track.

Trains diverted by Rennes

SNCF indicates that this accident caused major disruptions to traffic: the two tracks having been closed, the trains between Nantes and Paris were diverted by Rennes.

Substitution coaches took charge of passengers traveling between Angers and Cholet.

Normal traffic resumes around 6.30 p.m.
