An 80-year-old man died Thursday in an accident in Saint-Viaud, a commune in the south Loire between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. Initial reports indicate that the victim was run over by his tractor.
Alerted, the firefighters went to a place called La Caducière shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. A SMUR helicopter also took off to reach the area. When they arrived, the emergency services discovered a tractor overturned by the roadside. Under the agricultural machine, the driver was partially crushed. Attempts at cardiopulmonary resuscitation were carried out, but the man was declared deceased on the spot by the doctor of SMUR.
