The stepfather was sentenced to prison for having subjected the 5-year-old boy and his mother to repeated beatings at home.
The district court sentenced the stepfather to pay SEK 15,000 in damages for the violation to which the 5-year-old was subjected.
The Crime Victim Compensation Authority considered this to be far too low damages because the boy was exposed to crime in his home and by a person he should have been able to trust.
The damages for the violation are therefore doubled to SEK 30,000.
