4 earthquakes hit the coast of Dibba Al-Fujairah within a week

The Director of the Earthquake Department at the National Center of Meteorology, Engineer Khamis Al Shamsi, revealed to "Emirates Today" that the coast of Dibba Al-Fujairah was subjected to four earthquakes within one week, the last of which was a tremor of 1.4 degrees on the Richter scale, with a depth of 15 kilometers, between 24 and 29 May, and there was no effect or damage.

Al Shamsi pointed out that the four tremors were observed with close forces, ranging between 3.1 and 1.4 degrees, adding that seismic activity in this region is normal, given the movement of the faults under the sea floor.

He expected other tremors of the same strength, explaining that the center monitored the Dibba Al-Fujairah area, and the monitoring results showed that the seismic activity in it ranges between light and medium, and the occurrence of tremors may be repeated between 3 and 5 times during one year, pointing out that the activity is normal and may recur.
