The back of Ireland's XV Rob Kearney is uncertain before the World Cup (Gr.A) match against Scotland, Sunday in Yokohama, because of a calf injury that requires treatment, said Tuesday a door of the Clover team.
The 33-year-old Irish veteran with 92 caps has a tendon injury, a training injury.
Kearney's eventual drawdown would be another blow for Ireland's No. 1 seed Joe Schmidt, who was aiming for the best possible team against the XV thistle.
The Robbie Hanshaw center's pass is no longer in doubt because of a hamstring injury and at best he should be on the attack for the second game.
In addition, winger Keith Earls is indelicatese with a knee but the player Munster was able to resort.
The Irish spokesman explained that Kearney was receiving an ice-based treatment and that his recovery was closely monitored. No training is planned this Tuesday and Thursday.
"There was a lot of noise last night around Rob Kearney, he has stiffness in his calf," he said.
"We hope that he will run a little tomorrow (Wednesday) and that he will relax.If it is not Wednesday, he will run Friday," said the spokesman.
If Kearney had to give up, the back of Leinster Jordan Larmour would be the likely holder while Joey Carbery, also back from injury, has already worn the N.15.
