In addition, Esper plans to visit NATO headquarters in Brussels next week to discuss a solution to the situation in Syria.
“I expect to meet with Turkish and other colleagues in Brussels to confirm the importance of a long-term political solution to the situation in Syria,” he said.
Esper previously had a telephone conversation with Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar and called for a ceasefire in northeastern Syria.
