"The US authorities are not going to change their position and revise their discriminatory visa policy, despite the fact that the question is posed quite specifically, sharply and has a solid legal basis," the diplomat quoted the meeting as a TASS committee.

He noted that in this way it became impossible to fully participate in the work of the committee for a number of delegations.

The Permanent Mission also specified that eight representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the state corporation Roscosmos did not receive American visas this year, planning to take part in the work of the First Committee of the UN General Assembly.

“If the United States does not take advantage of the respite we can provide them, Russia will have to firmly insist on the transfer of the work of both the First Committee and the UN Disarmament Commission to Vienna or Geneva,” RIA Novosti quoted Belousova as saying.

Earlier, the UN Secretary General’s office noted that the situation with Washington’s visa refusal has a direct impact on the functioning of UN institutions in New York.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee Andrei Klimov, in an interview with Vzglyad, called on the UN to respond to members of the Russian delegation in the event of a politically motivated denial of visas.
