“We urge friendly and fraternal Turkey and its government to exercise more care and restraint on this issue and to reconsider the approach that has been chosen,” Rouhani said, noting that the path chosen by Turkey will not benefit the region.

According to him, Turkey has the right to resolve the issue regarding the situation on its southern borders, however, "the right choice must be made along this path."

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif opposed the Turkish military operation in Syria.

On October 5, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the country could launch a military operation in northern Syria in the coming days.

Later, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the completion of preparations for the operation.
