Big victory for Tsai Ing-wen in Taiwan. The final results are not yet final, but the opposition has already acknowledged its defeat. This is a double for the party of the outgoing president who has a very large lead in the presidential and legislative elections.

Thousands of green and pink flags rose and waved when the results fell. The activists literally exploded with joy, taking themselves by the shoulders, kissing, when the outgoing president - and soon re-elected - passed the 57% mark. Which is more than four years ago when he was first elected.

Voters had three stamps for this day of voting, the one to elect the head of state, Tsai Ing-wen is already the most elected president in the history of Taiwan, and then the other two stamps for the election of deputies by constituency and proportional deputies. Here too, pro-democracy is guaranteed to have a majority in Parliament.

Tsai Ing-wen has just announced his victory and we can say that it comes from afar. She was at the bottom in the polls a year ago and she can savor her victory. On the opposition side, the chairman of the Kuomintang, the opposition party quit early in the evening.
