The US government has come to the conclusion that Israel is behind the surveillance of mobile phones in Washington and near the perimeter of the White House in the past two years, Politico reported.
Contrary to all the occasions like this spying incident on American soil, the Trump administration has not accused the Israeli government, the website quoted a US official as saying.
According to the site, it used small surveillance devices known as "Sting Rise", which mimics the signal of the towers of ordinary communications to trick mobile phones to give them the location of the phones and information about their identities.
A US official told the site that it had not yet been confirmed that Trump, his top officials and his advisers had arrived.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hastened to describe the report as an absolute lie.
"The decision of Israel for many years prohibits any espionage activity against the United States, both at home and abroad," he said in a statement.
