The Palestinian Presidency has warned against harming the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, condemning the statements of the Israeli Minister of Internal Security in which he called for changing the historical situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"We condemn these statements, which aim to increase tension and inflame the feelings of the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nations," the presidency said in a statement yesterday.

She added that the Israeli government bears responsibility for the ongoing provocations and attacks on religious places in occupied Jerusalem, especially against Al-Aqsa Mosque, and called on the international community to intervene to pressure Israel to stop these attempts.

The Presidency asserted that the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, is in full and continuous coordination with the various parties concerned to stop attacks by Jewish extremists under the protection of the Israeli government against Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israeli plans, aimed at harming the city of Jerusalem, and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
