After a month and a half of discussions, the political dialogue between the government and the opposition seems to be deadlocked, eight months before the start of the presidential election. Yesterday, a meeting that was supposed to endorse the points of dissension ended in this dialogue, without signing an agreement. Now the decisions are in the hands of the Head of State.

" Signature with political parties within the framework of political dialogue ". The title of last night's prime ministerial meeting was clear. However, after an hour behind schedule and only five minutes of speech touting " the progress of democracy ", Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly closed the ban, deciding to close these discussions.

On the opposition side, where the PDCI and the Coalition Together for Democracy and Sovereignty, led by Laurent Gbagbo's FPI, were notably present, we were surprised by this decision.

Jean-Gervais Tchéidé, the vice-president of the coalition in charge of the elections, believes that “ the Prime Minister closed the dialogue when we had only arrived at a progress report. We were taken aback . ”

While the government and the opposition had only managed to agree on reimbursements of campaign costs beyond 5% of the votes, other grievances, such as the dropping of charges from the Ivorian justice against Laurent Gbagbo or greater independence of the Election Commission, have been set aside, regrets this opposition.

The Prime Minister said that he " would report these decisions to the Head of State and that the latter will advise on these points ". For their part, the opposition parties indicated that a press conference will be held this Tuesday morning at the headquarters of the PDCI at 11 a.m.
