In India, the government announced on Wednesday (September 18th) that e-cigarettes will now be banned in the country. A radical measure that aims to fight against smoking, especially among young smokers.

Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharam said on Wednesday that the government has approved the ban on electronic cigarettes . A ban with immediate effect that applies to the consumption, but also to the sale, production, distribution or advertising of these devices, more and more widespread, in India and elsewhere in the world.
Nirmala Sitharam denounced a fashion effect that particularly affected youth and presented this decision as a preventive measure against the scourge of smoking. The ban, which affects all electronic cigarettes, comes a week after the announcement by US President Donald Trump, he planned to ban the electronic cigarette in the United States.
Many Indians, however, denounced this ban by their government on social networks, recalling that electronic cigarettes were less harmful than traditional cigarettes. Many of them point to the hypocrisy of the ruling party, which they say is putting the Indian tobacco industry at risk.
