The European Parliament adopts the Asylum and Migration Fund. Ten billion euros for the next term of office will be allocated to the Member States to face the migratory challenges facing the countries of the European Union. And it includes an integration component, which was not the case so far. This new fund has been the subject of intense debate, but the Socialist rapporteur welcomes this.

The asylum-migration-integration (Fami) fund for the period 2021-2027 is doubled compared to the current period. Ten billion euros will therefore be allocated to strengthen the common European asylum system, but especially to finance the reception, care and integration of asylum seekers.
The current fund was rather intended for the regulation of flows; it will now serve mainly to help the first host countries.
The Maltese MEP, Miriam Dalli, rapporteur of the text is pleased. " This should be good news for Italy, Malta, Greece, Spain, which are the first host countries; countries, whether they like it or not, facing the challenges of migration; the countries that have long been lonely in the face of this situation and even abandoned by this Parliament, the Commission, the Council and the European institutions that speak of solidarity. I hear a lot about solidarity, but it is time for it to be concrete. "

A concrete solidarity for the member countries negotiated with the conservatives who wanted to allocate this fund to the countries of departure of the migrants.
The ten billion euros must now be validated in the next budget of the Union after the elections next May.
