With this strike, the interns in medicine want to denounce the "degradation of the care", and to demand an improvement of their status, in particular "a revaluation of the allowances of guard", and the "payment of the overtime".

"Internal exploited, patient in danger": the medical interns are called to the indefinite strike from Tuesday by their main union (Isni) to denounce the "degradation of care" and claim an improvement of their status, in crisis of the public hospital.

Demonstrations in "Marseille and Lyon"

Nearly nine months after the start of an unprecedented strike in emergency departments, doctors in training will be heavily mobilized Tuesday, according to the president of the National Intersyndicale des interns, Justin Breysse. "The participation rate is estimated at 60%, ie 16,000 interns out of 27,000," explained this intern in rheumatology, welcoming the rallying of the interns of medical biology and pharmacy (FNSIP-BM) and the support of the unions of hospital practitioners and young doctors.

Hospital services "are going to be in tension," predicted Justin Breysse, internal strikers can be assigned only after all senior doctors. Demonstrations are also planned in "Marseille and Lyon" and gatherings "in the halls of hospitals between noon and 14h," he added. At the origin of the movement, the decline of the public hospital, "privileged place of training" interns.

As the collectives (Inter-Emergency, Inter-Hospital) and unions mobilized in recent weeks to "save the hospital", the Isni is not satisfied with the plan presented by the end of November by the government, which provides including a budget extension of 1.5 billion euros over three years. Doubling the budget allocated to health, full recovery of hospital debt or even better working conditions for health professionals are part of his demands.

A "revaluation of child care allowances", "a payment of overtime"

But the Isni also requires measures specific to the "trainee practitioner status" of interns, who work "on average 56 hours per week", according to Justin Breysse, far from the 48 hours.
Among these measures: an "hourly count" and not half-days of working time allowing "a payment of overtime", "a revaluation of childcare allowances" or an "investment of public funds" in the training.

Towards a new day of mobilization on December 17th

For its part, the union of interns in general medicine (Isnar-IMG) announced Monday to file a "strike notice for December 17", date chosen by the collective and hospital unions for a new day of national action. Their previous mobilization, on November 14, had gathered several thousand doctors and caregivers across France.
