The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) announced on Wednesday that it has "amicably" ended its contract with French coach Alain Giresse, a former star player of the 1970s and 1980s, who had held the position of coach for less than a year.
In a brief statement posted on its Facebook page, the FTF does not specify the reasons for this decision or the name of the new coach of the Carthage Eagles.
In December 2018, Mr. Giresse signed an 18-month renewable contract to train the Tunisian national team to replace Tunisia's Faouzi Benzarti.
After a chaotic start, Tunisia won this year's semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations, beaten by Senegal.
Giresse, 67, has long been a mainstay of the Girondins de Bordeaux and the France team (47 caps). As a coach, he successively led Gabon (2006-2010), Mali (2010-2012) and Senegal (2013-2015), before returning to Mali between 2015 and 2017.
He resigned in September 2017, as a result of poor qualifying results in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which she did not participate in.
