Sprinter Bryan Coquard extended his contract with the Vital Concept - B & B Hotels team for two seasons, until 2021, the Breton training announced on Friday.

"Not having participated in the Tour de France these last two summers is a factor that made me think I could have gone to an assured team to compete in the Tour but I am convinced that we are close to achieving what we aspire, "says the 27-year-old runner on the website of his training.

Leader of Vital Concept, which he joined since its creation in 2018, Coquard has not participated in the Tour in 2018 or in 2019. The Breton team - second division (Continental pro) at the world cycling level - having received no invaluable invitation from the organizers.

"I took a big risk two years ago by getting involved in this brand new project, and leaving the ship so soon would not have made sense, and if I had left I would have felt like have lost two years, "says the former pistard, silver medalist in omnium at the London Olympics in 2012.

This season, Coquard has won stages on the Four Days of Dunkirk, the Boucles de la Mayenne, the Etoile de Bessèges, the Circuit de la Sarthe and the Tour de Belgique.
