The Court of Cassation confirms the dismissal before the criminal court of Nicolas Sarkozy in the Bygmalion case.

The Court of Cassation rejected Tuesday the last resort of Nicolas Sarkozy in the Bygmalion case. This was the last hurdle to holding a trial in the former Head of State's Criminal Court for "Illegal Campaign Financing" in 2012.

This trial was ordered in 2017 by the examining magistrate Serge Tournaire. Such an offense is punishable by one year in prison and a fine of 3,750 euros.

Thirteen people judged

This case is therefore definitely referred to the Criminal Court after a long procedural battle. The trial does not have a date yet.

Thirteen others will appear alongside Nicolas Sarkozy.
