September 13, 2019 Eleven killed in a fire in a Rio de Janiero hospital. The fire took place in the Badim hospital, in the Maracanà district, near the stadium of the same name.

The fire, which began last night, was probably triggered by a short circuit. At the time of the disaster, there were over 100 hospitalized patients who were rescued by the Fire Brigade and several ambulances.

The Fire Brigade managed to tame the flames in a few hours, but the firemen then spent the night searching for the bodies in the rubble. Scenes of chaos during the evacuation of the victims, with patients waiting for ambulances on mattresses placed in the street. At least 90 patients have been transferred to other hospitals.
