“We see this as a counter-proposal by the coalition of which we are a part - the Strait of Hormuz coalition. We cannot work in two coalitions. We are already entering one, ”the Foreign Minister said.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at a working breakfast for journalists on the eve of the UN General Assembly said that Iran had proposed the creation of a security coalition in the Persian Gulf under the auspices of the UN, which would include Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.

Also, Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani announced his intention to submit to the UN a project to ensure the security of the Persian and Oman gulfs, as well as the Strait of Hormuz.
