WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump has said he will use his veto to frustrate Congress's decision to revoke the state of emergency Trump announced a month ago to fund a wall on the southern border with Mexico.

Minutes after the Senate joined the House of Representatives in support of the abolition of the state of national emergency, Trump rushed to publish a Twitter account in his Twitter account included the word "Vito".

In a pre-published audiotape, the president described the Senate vote, which is dominated by Republicans, as being in the interest of Democrats and crime.

Twelve Republican members joined the Democratic minority in the Senate, allowing a 59-to-41 bill to repeal the state of emergency. The resolution had to be passed by a two-thirds majority (67 out of 100 senators) to avoid a presidential veto.

The US House of Representatives, which has been controlled by Democrats since the beginning of this year, voted two weeks ago by a vote of 245 to 182 in favor of the abolition of the state of emergency.

Trump made the decision after the Democrats refused to give him $ 5.6 billion in funding to build parts of the wall he says are necessary to protect US national security from illegal immigration, drugs and weapons.

The conflict between the president and his Democratic rivals led to a partial closure of federal government institutions lasting weeks, the longest in US history, because of a lack of a budget deal or partial funding for the government that includes the funding the president is demanding.

The US president signed a national emergency a month ago to secure more than $ 8 billion in funding for a border wall with Mexico, something Democratic lawmakers have called a coup against the constitution.
