Ivory Coast pays a last tribute to DJ Arafat this Friday before his burial on Saturday. Tens of thousands of people are expected at the large stadium Felix Houphouet-Boigny in the municipality of Plateau Abidjan to attend a ceremony of concerts, speeches and meditation. The tribute to the artist will last all night.
The atmosphere is really at the party at Houphouët-Boigny stadium which fills slowly as the evening progresses. The speakers broadcast DJ Arafat's hits, the "Chinese" , the nickname given to fans of the artist because of their large number, sing and dance in the stands. They all wear t-shirts with the image of their idol. Some even deploy the flag of China to display their membership in the "Arafat Republic".
All these fans come from Abidjan but also from Bouaké and many other cities in the country. Many still find it hard to believe in the death of their legend. They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the artist's body which is scheduled for 6 am this Saturday.

The bulk of the festivities should start around 21h with words of the family, relatives and then of course performances of African stars of music such as Sidiki Diabate Mali, Congolese Fally Ipupa or French Dadju. The tribute should last all night.
