The Organizing Committee of the Dubai International Basketball Championship announced the names of the 10 teams competing for the championship title in its 31st edition, which will be held during the period from the 23rd of next to the 1st of next February.

The announcement came during the meeting held by the Organizing Committee, the day before yesterday, at the Federation’s headquarters in Dubai, during which the committees emanating from the Organizing Committee were formed, and was attended by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the President of the Arab and UAE federations for Basketball, Major General Ismail Al-Gergawi, and two vice-presidents of the Supreme Organizing Committee , Muhammad Abdullah Al-Hajj, Abdul-Latif Al-Fardan, Tournament Director Salem Al-Mutawa, and members: Hassan Al-Mutawa, Farid Al-Qaiwani, Osama Gargash, Khalid Al-Hajri and Maitha bin Dhawi.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of government bodies, sponsors, and a number of local and international media representatives.

The head of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the championship and the head of the Arab and Emirati federations, Major General Ismail Al-Gergawi, announced the names of the 10 participating teams from seven competing countries for the title of the 31st edition: the Emirates team, the American University of Dubai, the Egyptian Alexandrian Federation, the two sports teams and Beirut Beirut, and the Al Wathba Club and the Union The two Syrians, Sella El Maghribi, Mighty Filipino, and the Tunisian sports star.

Al-Gergawi expressed his happiness at the arrival of the "Dubai basket" to the 31st edition, pointing to the great role that the tournament played in developing the game at the level of the countries of the region, and made its competitions a kiss that the largest clubs in the Asian and African arenas are keen to participate in.

In turn, the tournament director, Salem Al-Mutawa, provided a technical explanation of the procedures and requirements for the tournament, through the approval of the participation of 14 players in one team, including three foreign professionals, provided that the presence on the field is limited to only two professionals.

In the same context, the representative of Sama, the owner of the championship rights, Sharif Zaki, said: "The official ceremonies for the championship lottery will take place on the 20th of this month, provided that the schedule of the first round competitions is determined."

Sharjah is tough on the island and continues to top the league

Sharjah team won over its guest Al-Jazira by a difference of 48 points, and the result of «104-56», in the match they gathered the day before yesterday to calculate the eighth round of the preliminary round first leg stage in the General League Championship, which also recorded the continuation of Al-Ahly and Al-Nasr youth pursuit of the lead, after the determination of « Dubai Knights' meeting with their guest Al-Wasl with a score of "87-57", and the return of the Dean from Al-Ain Hall with a deserved victory by "100-54".

With the results of the round, Sharjah maintained the lead in the overall ranking of the tournament with 16 points, a difference of one point for each of Al-Ahly and Al-Nasr youth, while Al-Bataah advanced to fourth with 13 points, before Bani Yas succeeded in reaching 12 points, and imposed himself as a partner to connect in the center Fifth, Al Dhafra and Al Wahda continued their partnership at the tenth and seventh place levels, and Al-Jazira retreated to the ninth place with nine points, and Al Ain maintained its last position with a score of eight points.
