President Emmanuel Macron was photographed in the middle of a jet-ski ride during his vacation at Fort Brégançon.

A leisure activity deemed too polluting by environmentalists, who were quick to react.

On Europe 1, Julien Bayou sees it as a double standard on energy consumption.

This is a photo that sparked controversy.

The magazine

has unveiled published photos showing Emmanuel Macron, on vacation at Fort Brégançon, on his jet ski.

An activity he does every afternoon but which is not to the taste of his political opponents, and in particular environmentalists who emphasize a polluting leisure.

It was first the deputy Sandrine Rousseau who attacked the head of state.

On Twitter, the deputy of the ninth district of Paris judges "criminal" the behavior of the president who, according to her, "refuses to understand global warming".

This confirms this persistent impression that he does not understand global warming.

And today it is criminal not to understand it.

"The issue is not his leisure, but that he acts"

At the microphone of Europe 1, Julien Bayou, the boss of Europe-Ecology Les Verts also wanted to react.

The deputy for the fifth constituency of Paris stepped up to remind Emmanuel Macron of the reality.

"The High Council for the Climate, which calls for a start, is an independent body. We have mega-fires, heat waves, and with this president, we have the impression that we are in the middle of greenwashing", thunders the leader of EELV.

Julien Bayou refers to another boat borrowed by the Head of State, after the publication of these photos.

"He rides a jet ski, and when it is pointed out to him that it is very polluting, he switches to canoeing... The issue is not his leisure, but that he finally acts."

Double standards on energy consumption

The Green deputy also denounces the president's double standards on energy consumption.

"It's always the most vulnerable who drink," he says on Europe 1. belt and that we let the biggest polluters, private jets, yachts pollute at leisure. We have a real problem of justice in this case, "said Julien Bayou.

Wednesday evening, the Elysée for its part refused to comment on the controversy.
