• "Platoto" is a tray that attaches to the steering wheel of your car.

On it, you can put a computer or your meal.

  • This eco-responsible tablet was invented in March 2021 by Caroline Igual, a 39-year-old entrepreneur.

  • She hopes to make the work of itinerant employees less tiring, those who have to bend over backwards to work in their car.

Car, office, restaurant. A simple concept optimized by "Platoto", a 50 cm wooden board. Attached to the steering wheel of a car, this board becomes a support for a meal or a computer. Practical for those who spend their days on the road: liberal nurses, commercial or police. The goal ? "Working and eating in your car, in a comfortable position, without breaking your back", explains Caroline Igual, the inventor of this tray. Since its launch in September 2021, the entrepreneur has sold more than 3,000 Platoto. And this, at the price of 70 euros for individuals and up to half as much for businesses.

Platoto's story began with a tabbouleh.

“One day when he wanted to eat in his car, my husband knocked everything over on his knees,” says Caroline Igual, amused.

The click for the Francilienne who wants to create a board on which we could put her things.

Two weeks after the “incident”, with a designer, she invents this eco-responsible tray.

After nine prototypes, Caroline Igual assures her: her product can be attached to any car model.

That was also “the big challenge.

I would go to car dealerships and then try the tablet on lots of different models.

We had to modify the set many times, ”she explains.

For the launch of its product, in September 2021, it participates in trade fairs, meets companies, presents its product. It was during one of her discussions with the mayor of Joinville-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne), the town in which she resides, that she spoke to him about “Platoto”. “We were immediately attracted,” says the city. To finish files or for lunch, the municipal police officers of the commune waste a lot of time going back and forth between the offices and the field. With this tablet, they gain 45 minutes in a day. "This is the kind of object we need but which we have no idea of the existence", concludes the town hall.

Eventually, Caroline Igual would like to replace the wood that makes up her “Plattoto” with an eco-responsible plastic and attract the eye of large companies “that have itinerant employees”.
