Dresden (dpa) - Saxony, Bavaria and Thuringia want to help the Czech Republic with corona vaccine.

The delivery of a total of 15,000 vaccine doses to the neighboring country is planned from Monday, said Saxony's government spokesman Ralph Schreiber on Sunday.

MDR Aktuell had previously reported on it.

The Czech government will therefore decide on the further distribution.

The Czech Republic currently has the highest infection rate in the entire EU.

The country with 10.7 million inhabitants has registered around 1.2 million infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

More than 20,000 corona patients died.
