Dresden (dpa / sn) - The introduction of uniform software for tracking contacts in the corona pandemic, which the federal and state governments are striving for, is making slow progress in Saxony.
The “Sormas” reporting system should initially be tested as a pilot project in two districts - in Leipzig and northern Saxony, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday in Dresden.
For this purpose, an interface to the previously used “Octoware” software is to be created.
"With this we begin to meet the demand that all offices be attached to Sormas," it said.
Because the health authorities are currently so busy, the process can only take place as an accompanying measure.
The Sormas IT system developed by the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI) should be able to automatically track contact chains.
At their meeting in mid-November, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Ministers of the federal states agreed to use the platform in 90 percent of the German health authorities by the end of 2020.

According to the overview of the Conference of Health Ministers (GMK) from mid-January, the software has been used differently in the federal states: In Bremen with two health offices, coverage in the health offices is 100 percent and in Brandenburg 33 percent;
In Thuringia, half of the offices use the new IT system.
There are 13 health authorities in Saxony, none of which have been using Sormas to date.
The Ministry of Health in Dresden pointed out that there has been a uniform reporting software for years, which has also been adapted to deal with the corona pandemic.
All Saxon health authorities had technical solutions for contact tracking.
According to the assessment of the German District Assembly, the targeted relief of the health authorities cannot be achieved with the new IT system.
The offices are already using digital instruments for contact tracking and do not need any additional applications, it said.
