Sandhausen (AP) - Outnumbered, VfL Osnabrück came under even more pressure in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.
After Adam Sušac was sent off in the fifth minute, Lower Saxony lost a strange game at SV Sandhausen on Saturday with three penalties 0: 3 (0: 1).
In the running duel, the VfL defender brought down Kevin Behrens in the penalty area in the early stages, caused a penalty and received the red card.
Alexander Esswein converted the penalty to 1-0 (6th).
Behrens also scored the second SVS goal with a penalty (63rd).
Emanuel Taffertshoser had previously caused the penalty with a foul on Nils Röseler.
After Philipp Klingmann had finally sealed the ninth consecutive defeat of VfL Osnabrück with the third goal (88th), Patrick Schmidt missed a third penalty for SVS (90th).
The VfL of interim coach Florian Fulland was not dangerous enough in the balanced game.
Even without interim coach Stefan Kulovits, the SVS achieved an important success, the team moved up to relegation rank and up to one point on VfL Osnabrück in 15th place.
Kulovits had tested positive for the corona virus before the game, a spokesman for the club confirmed.
