The vaccination of people considered "large dependents" and their caregivers begins in the Community of Madrid this Monday, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Public Health and the Covid-19 Plan, Antonio Zapatero.

It will start with 7,925 large immobilized dependents (patients who cannot move from their homes due to different circumstances) and their caregivers.

Primary Care Nursing professionals began to contact immobilized patients by phone on Friday to make an appointment for the administration of the vaccine from March 8, both for the dependent person and their caregivers.

Zapatero is confident that "between March 8 and 31" they will be administered the first dose and the second after Easter.

"All will be vaccinated", has riveted.

Large immobilized dependent patients over 55 years of age (7,360 people in Madrid) will receive the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine during the month of March, while 565 people with these same characteristics between 18 and 55 years will be administered the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, as it is only given to that age group.

On the other hand, and also as of this Monday, vaccination begins in the health centers of the group of about 23,000 large dependents with mobility, that is, their physical conditions allow them to move.

As with the inoculation of those over 80 years of age, which began on February 25, Primary Care professionals will contact these patients and their caregivers by phone to meet them at their health center and proceed with the administration of the vaccine.

Of this group of patients, more than 17,000 are expected to be over 55 years of age and will therefore be inoculated with the Pfizer vaccine.

The rest, more than 5,000, will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine for patients between 18 and 55 years of age.

As for the group over 80 years of age, a total of 90,000 elderly people in the Community of Madrid have received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at their health center, at a rate of 4,000 people vaccinated per hour.

The campaign to immunize the priority group aged 80 and over will continue in the coming weeks and it is planned to progressively administer doses to more than 320,000 citizens within this age group.
