The Supreme Committee in charge of examining the mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the new Corona virus in the Sultanate of Oman has decided to close all commercial activities in all governorates of the Sultanate from eight in the evening to five in the morning, starting from tomorrow, Thursday, until the morning of Saturday, March 20, this includes The closure of restaurants and cafes inside the tourist facilities, in addition to home delivery services. Gas stations, health institutions and private pharmacies are excluded from the closure.
The committee held a meeting yesterday, headed by the Minister of Interior, Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, to follow up on the developments of the pandemic, measures to prevent it and ways to avoid its spread, and deal with its various effects.
The committee reviewed the epidemiological situation at the international and local levels, and explained that a number of the Sultanate's governorates recorded high levels of sleep that exceeded the severity indicator, and the data revealed an alarming increase in the number of travel-related cases, especially in light of the global spread of the disease in the countries of departure and the lack of data on the situation, especially New strains in a number of others.
The data indicated that laboratory confirmed cases of mutated strains, including the South African strain, were recorded, linked to the presence of outbreaks in several locations in a number of the Sultanate's governorates.
The committee approved that students will continue to receive education in public schools via distance learning during the next week.
