23 February 2021 The stock markets had started well, after yesterday's decline, but now they are down.

Milan too: -1.24% mid-session.

Only Frankfurt is worse, -1.50%.

In Piazza Affari, utilities (-2%) and technology stocks (-3.9%) are doing badly.



Stock exchanges follow American futures.

This morning they were up, now down again (the one on the Nasdaq -1.8%, the one on the Dow Jones -0.2%), after yesterday the Nasdaq fell by 2.46%. 



These trends seem to reflect fears about rising inflation and a possible rate hike in response from the Fed, the US central bank.


Fed Governor Jerome Powell will speak in the Washington Senate today and could give some indication of the outlook for inflation.



Meanwhile, oil continues to run: Brent from the North Sea today exceeded 66 dollars a barrel, only to return a little below, we are at pre-pandemic levels.



Among the stocks today, Atlantia is also higher today: +3.75 after yesterday's +4 and a half.

This afternoon the offer from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti for Autostrade per l'Italia is expected.

Leonardo follows, + 3.30%.
