Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will miss the defending NBA champions' last game before the All-Star Game on Wednesday due to a sprained left ankle, the club said.

LeBron James will not be making the Lakers trip to Sacramento to treat his ankle.

At 36, the man nicknamed the "King" will miss his first game of the 2020/21 season, after having played 38 minutes per game on average since December.

He is due to play in his 17th All-Star Game in Atlanta on Sunday, although he last month called the event a "slap in the face" to NBA players who he says need a rest.
