Darmstadt (AP) - Holstein Kiel has managed to return to 3rd place in the 2nd Bundesliga.

The storks won 2-0 (1-0) at SV Darmstadt 98 on Sunday.

This was the first league win in their fourth game this year.

Fabian Reese (40th minute) took the lead for the guests.

In addition, Kiel benefited from an own goal by Immanuel Höhn (55th).

After a balanced first half hour, the Kiel dominated the game and developed good chances.

Against Janni Luca Serra (33.) and Jonas Meffert (36.) the Darmstadt goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe saved.

When Reese scored from eleven meters, the keeper had no chance (40th).

Just two minutes later, the North Germans should have extended their lead, but Mühling's shot was blocked and Reese hit the inside post with the margin.

The storks were not irritated by this and came after a corner, which Höhn unhappily carried with his chest into his own goal, but still for the second goal (55th).

After they had won five league games in a row and were at the top of the table, the Kielers had only been successful in the DFB Cup in January until the victory in Darmstadt, where they beat record champions and cup winners Bayern Munich 6-5 had the upper hand on penalties.
