Karlsruhe (dpa) - In the revision procedure for inadmissible arms deliveries from Germany to Mexican unrest provinces, the Federal Prosecutor wants to enforce harsher penalties.
Your representative called on Thursday before the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe to partially overturn the judgment of the Stuttgart Regional Court.
The decision is to be announced on March 11th.
The proceedings concern 4,200 assault rifles and accessories that the armaments company Heckler & Koch sold to Mexico from 2006 to 2009.
The procurement office there, in turn, resold the weapons intended for police officers in states that are accused of human rights violations.
The German authorities had approved the exports to Heckler & Koch because they had been given, untruthfully, unproblematic provinces as recipients.
Because of the permits obtained in this way, the regional court sentenced two former employees to suspended prison terms in 2019.
Three other defendants were acquitted.
These acquittals are no longer up for debate in Karlsruhe.
The two convicts hope to be acquitted.
According to the Stuttgart judgment, Heckler & Koch is to pay around 3.7 million euros to the state treasury and has therefore also appealed.
