An Iraqi man committed a crime that local media described as "horrific" after he killed his three sons by hanging to death, Tuesday morning, in revenge on his wife.
Local websites quoted the Iraqi Interior Ministry as saying that this crime took place in the Qalat Saleh district of Maysan Governorate, in the south of the country.
The provincial police directorate stated, "After a killing accident occurred in Qalaat Saleh district, south of the city of Amara, and as a result of the severity and importance of the accident, the provincial police chief directed. To form a work team to uncover the circumstances of the accident."
The statement indicated that the father was arrested after he ran away from home and was chased for more than an hour.
During the investigations, the man, whose identity has not been revealed, said that there were disputes between him and his wife because of his drug use, indicating that he quickly hanged his sons, aged 9 and 8, and a 5-year-old girl.
The police explained that the accused was transferred to the judiciary for trial as soon as possible and to "obtain his fair punishment."
