Berlin (dpa / bb) - A fire in a chemistry laboratory in Charlottenburg-Nord triggered a large-scale operation by the Berlin fire brigade.

Around 80 emergency services moved to a laboratory in an industrial park in Max-Dohrn-Strasse on Tuesday evening, where there was a fire in an area with, among other things, biological and radioactive substances, said a fire department spokesman on Wednesday morning.

As a precaution, the fire brigade therefore came with special vehicles for defense against hazardous substances and for decontamination.

After exploring the dangers, the fire on the sixth floor of the seven-story laboratory building was quickly extinguished, it said.

As it turned out, it burned in a less dangerous laboratory on an area of about one square meter.

No dangerous substances were released.

People weren't in danger.

The fire brigade's mission ended at around 10 p.m.

The cause of fire was unclear for the moment.
