Berlin (dpa) - The American rapper Cardi B (“WAP”) has got her first leading role in a movie.

The 28-year-old will star in the Paramount comedy “Assisted Living”, as the industry journal “Variety” reported.

Accordingly, the rapper plays the petty criminal Amber, who disguises herself as a senior citizen on the run from the police and hides in her grandmother's home for the elderly.

At first it was not known when the film would appear.

The Grammy winner made her film debut in 2019 in the crime drama "Hustlers" alongside Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Keke Palmer.

She will also play a supporting role in the next installment in the Fast & Furious action series.

"F9: The Fast Saga" (German title: "Fast & Furious 9") will be released in cinemas at the end of May.

In Germany, the cinema release is scheduled for May 27th.
