Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin Fashion Week takes place largely online because of the pandemic.

The big catwalk will be opened on Monday evening (6 p.m.) by Belgian designer Tom Van Der Borght.

The show is recorded without guests and shown on the Internet.

A safety concept is to apply in the Berlin power plant.

For example, corona tests, ventilation systems, distance rules, but also tracking software are planned.

"This is to prevent the health of fashion companies, designers and employees from being endangered," said the organizer.

Performances by Marc Cain and Kilian Kerner are also planned for the next few days.

Spectators from the fashion industry are expected - for example buyers, but also journalists and other people who are interested in fashion.

The Berlin Fashion Week combines many events under one roof.

The big catwalk shows are to be broadcast at www.mbfw.berlin.

In addition, the online summit “202030” is planned until Sunday, for example, at which the fashion industry and environmental protection will be discussed.

The Berlin Fashion Week recently had to cope with a setback.

Last year, Messe Premium announced that it wanted to move from Berlin to Frankfurt am Main.

Frankfurt Fashion Week should take place in summer.
