Euskirchen (dpa / lnw) - In a Miele plant in Euskirchen near Cologne, 200 employees were quarantined after corona infections.

A total of 14 cases have been confirmed so far, the company announced on Wednesday.

Production in the plant has been quiet since Tuesday evening.

The particularly contagious British virus variant was found in six of the positive cases.

All around 500 employees at the plant have now been tested.

The results are expected for Thursday.

There is no reliable information about how the virus got into the plant.

The spread is limited to production, while so far no employee from other areas of the 110,000 square meter factory site has tested positive.
