Trade association ANVR, to which about three hundred travel organizations are affiliated and of which about sixty organizations arrange trips to China, advises all its members not to carry out trips to China until 29 February. ANVR writes that in a press release on Wednesday.
The reason for the advice is the outbreak of the new corona virus. In the meantime, nearly six thousand infections and 132 people have died in China from the effects of the virus. The virus has also emerged in France and Germany, in both countries four people have been infected with the corona virus.
To exclude any risk, ANVR travel organizations are advised to cancel their journeys to mainland China until February 29. An exception is made for transferring passengers in Hong Kong to, for example, Australia.
"Naturally, the ANVR will continue to closely monitor the situation and we will stay in touch with Foreign Affairs, RIVM and VWS. As a travel industry organization, we are committed to the safety and health of travelers," writes ANVR director Frank Oostdam.
