Military intervention

The incident, which took place at the police station, then spread to the terminal where tensions broke out with civilian staff and supporters of the activist. Forced to intervene, the soldiers of the Sentinel system finally restored calm in front of stunned tourists.

For Julien Adubeiro, regional secretary of the SGP Police Unit for central services, “this raises security questions for the police officers in charge of these convoys”. According to the latter, people under OQTF, free to have a mobile phone during their placement in an administrative detention center, “communicate with those around them and associations” during the expulsion procedure. The time and destination of the flight are then known, which makes it “easy to find the convoy”.

“What will it be like during the Olympics?”

An incident of this type which is therefore likely to be repeated in the future. “What will it be like during the Olympic Games?” asks Julien Adubeiro, especially since during this period, police and soldiers will be assigned to other tasks deemed more priority. For his part, the Kurdish activist was finally put on the plane and deported to Turkey.
