Russian scientists have developed a method for producing stable ultracold plasma. This is one of the aggregate states of matter in the Universe.

Previously, physicists could create such plasma under terrestrial conditions only for very short periods of time. The authors of the work figured out how to solve this problem. Their development will help scientists study many phenomena in the universe, as well as thermonuclear processes. In addition, the work has practical significance and can be used in the creation of new ion microscopes.
