A man in his thirties was sentenced to jail for assaulting his pregnant wife for telling his family that he had fought with him.

Today (27th), the Daejeon District Court 2 alone (Judge Ho-seok Kim) sentenced Mr. A to one year's imprisonment on charges of special assault.

Mr. A was accused of assaulting his wife B several times in the face of his wife B in an apartment in Seo-gu, Daejeon last August, kicking his stomach and side with his feet.

It was the reason that Mr. B called his mother and informed him of the marital fight.

Mr. A didn't stop there, and hit Mr. B's head and back with a camera tripod.

Mr. B, who was 8 weeks pregnant at the time of the assault, is known to have held a child who is 11 months old.

As a result of Mr. A's assault, Mr. B was injured for three weeks.

The prosecution viewed Mr. A's charges as'special assault' rather than general assault. Article 261 of the Criminal Law stipulates that cases of violence as a group or assault using'dangerous objects' are classified as special assaults, and punishment of heavier sentences than general assaults. Considering Mr. A's assault with a camera tripod.

In the course of the investigation, Mr. A denied his crimes and stated to the effect that "the pregnant wife's belly was kicked with his feet for play", which proved that Mr. A has routinely assaulted his wife.

The judge pointed out that "they were assaulted with force beyond the range of pranks that may be common between couples," and "the crime is very bad, but the crime is denied with a claim that is difficult to understand."
